Catherine Maxwell, a native of Christiansburg, grew up watching WDBJ7. Her passion for weather started at the age of 8 when she would fascinate over thunderstorms. She also would get up early to watch the local weather with her dad.
To further her career in broadcast meteorology, Maxwell received a dual degree from Virginia Tech in 2019 for Meteorology and Multimedia Journalism with a degree in Geography.
Her first job landed her in Bluefield, WV at our sister station WVVA, during her senior year of college in 2018. Now she joins our team in March 2022 and is excited to forecast the dynamic climate.
Cool fact: Catherine went storm chasing with Virginia Tech for a research study while in college.
