Meteorologist Christian Johansen

Born and raised along the Gulf Coast, Christian Johansen grew to love weather, especially during hurricane season. After high school Christian joined the US Army working as a communications specialist. He then moved to Las Vegas and started college at a small community college, earning a degree in broadcasting. Working behind the scenes as a production specialist, Christian learned the ins and outs of television and decided to step in front of the camera. He moved to Denver, CO in 2007 where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology at Metropolitan State University of Denver. During his time in Denver, Christian chased severe weather and worked as a weather research assistant for the National Center for Atmospheric Research.

Christian started his on-air career in 2012 at Fox 26 KNPN in St. Joseph, Missouri as a weekend meteorologist and a weekday reporter. He quickly moved into the morning show and after 2.5 years he was promoted to chief meteorologist. Christian has covered major snow storms, severe weather and flooding in Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas. His experience with severe weather coverage, knowledge of mountain meteorology, and love for the outdoors makes Roanoke a perfect fit for him. Christian hopes to share his knowledge and understanding of weather to make a difference in someone's life.
