Kate Capodanno joined the WDBJ7 news team in May 2019.
Kate anchors the weekend evening broadcasts and reports during the week.
Before moving to Virginia, Kate worked at WITN in Greenville, North Carolina as a reporter and the weekend anchor. During her time at WITN, she captured the devastating impacts of Hurricane Florence and reported on the successes as communities worked together to rebuild. Kate reported live at breaking news scenes covering active investigations and crime, but also highlighted the economic growth and events in local communities.
Kate grew up in New Jersey and studied at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. While in college, Kate dual-majored in Broadcast and Digital Journalism, and Spanish.
Outside work, you’ll find Kate rocking out to live music performances, playing golf, or enjoying a plate of good food.
