Kate Capodanno
Anchor/Reporter

Kate Capodanno joined the WDBJ7 news team in May 2019.
She initially began telling the stories of Southwest Virginia as a weekend anchor and weekday reporter.
In August 2021 she moved to the anchor desk full time. You can find her every weekday on WDBJ7 at 5:30 & 11 and on WZBJ24 at 6:30 & 10.
Kate also helped launch a Spanish News Brief in 2020 at the start of the pandemic to help better communicate with the Hispanic communities across the region.
Before moving to Virginia, Kate worked at WITN in Greenville, North Carolina as a reporter and weekend anchor. During her time at WITN, she captured the devastating impacts of Hurricane Florence and reported on the successes as communities worked together to rebuild. Kate reported live at breaking news scenes covering active investigations and crime, but also highlighted the economic growth and local events.
Kate grew up in New Jersey and studied at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. While in college, Kate dual-majored in Broadcast and Digital Journalism, and Spanish.
Outside work, you’ll find Kate rocking out to live music performances, playing golf, or enjoying a plate of good food.
