Katey Roshetko calls Virginia home even though she only moved here seven years ago. Raised as an Air Force B.R.A.T., she’s lived all over the United States and Germany, and visited many places in between.
Virginia became home once she began attending Liberty University. She graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast-Journalism, and again in 2016 with a Master's in strategic communications. Her television education included producing and reporting segments for the Liberty Flames Sports Network as well as working jobs behind the scenes at school sporting events. She also takes pride in her theater minor and loves to support all of the local performing arts. Her academic awards include Outstanding Student in Broadcast Journalism and she is a two-time recipient of the Jefferson Cup for Excellence in Student Teaching. Her Master's thesis was titled: “The Feminist and Patriarchal Themes of Shonda Rhimes Television Shows: Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, and How To Get Away With Murder.”
In July 2016, Katey got her first job in television news at KHQA, a little station in Quincy, Illinois. During her 8-month stint as KHQA’s morning producer, she fell further in love with creating T.V. and telling real stories that educate, entertain and inspire people.
In April 2017, she and her cat, Scout, moved back to Virginia, this time settling down in Roanoke and becoming a part of the WDBJ7 team. She currently works as a morning producer and on-air reporter for WDBJ7 Mornin’.
You’ll most likely find Katey spending her free time reading biographies, trying out local restaurants, and napping.
