Lindsay Cayne joined the WDBJ7 team in July 2018 after receiving her masters from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York City. Although new to Roanoke, Lindsay grew up outside of Washington, DC in Potomac, Maryland, close to the Virginia border.
At Columbia, Lindsay was a one-woman band, shooting stories for her Video Broadcast and Video Newsroom workshops on topics covering healthcare, politics and crime. She attended college at Cornell University where she majored in English. While there, Lindsay wrote for the News Section of the Cornell Daily Sun, reported and anchored for the Sun’s digital platform and was the News Department Head of Slope Media Group, Cornell’s leading multimedia organization. During her summers, she interned for NBC4 Washington and CBS News’ 48 Hours in New York City, where Lindsay researched and investigated several high-profile murder cases.
When Lindsay is off the clock, she loves travelling. She recently traveled to Thailand and spent a semester abroad in Prague, Czech Republic. While there, she journeyed throughout Europe and interned for the English language newspaper, The Prague Post. In addition to travel, Lindsay enjoys working out and spending time exploring Roanoke’s cultural scene.
She is very excited to meet more members of the Southwest and Central Virginia community! Lindsay would love to hear from you. Email her at firstname.lastname@example.org with story ideas or to say hello. You can also follow her on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
