COVINGTON, Va. (WDBJ7) There's a spot in Covington that is much more than just a restaurant to the locals. For the past four decades, Cucci's Pizzeria has been serving up incredible food.
Known for great sandwiches, pizza and turnovers, which most people know as Calzones, Cucci's has something for everyone.
“It’s a family-oriented place and its good to see a place like that do really good,” said Lance Perkins.
Making things homemade is important to folks at Cucci's. Marco Cucci's dad opened the place up back in the 1970s.
"It’s harder work but in the end its benefited us. It sustained our life for quite a while,” he said.
If you go, make sure you try their homemade red sauce, which Cucci calls their Sicilian gravy.
It takes hours and hours to make, but its worth every bit of it until the last drop. They go through more than 120 gallons of it every week and even sell it in to-go containers.
“They could fill up an entire bowl of just the sauce in there, I’d still eat it up,” said WDBJ7's Josh Birch.
Cucci's is at 566 E Madison St, Covington, VA 24426. Their phone number is (540) 962-3964.
