DRAPER, Va. (WDBJ7) If you're heading down I-81 in Pulaski County and have a craving for home-cooked meals made with lots of love, Brunch at the Merc is the spot you've got to check out.
Located just a few miles off the highway in Draper, the Merc features southern staples done their own way. The best part is they make nearly everything, from growing their own herbs to making biscuits and buns every day.
"It’s absolutely delicious," said Sara Amos. "Really flavorful and really unique too. I like it a lot.”
You've probably heard of places serving breakfast all day, but at the Merc, they're serving lunch all day too.
"If you’ve got a guy from Volvo, he might work third shift. He might want to have a cheeseburger at 8 in the morning, but we want to have both all the time," said co-owner Jennifer Jones.
One of the most popular breakfast items is the Benny, featuring two poached eggs, bacon, and homemade Hollandaise sauce served on a homemade biscuit.
“Anybody can just grab something off the back of the truck that’s frozen. This is special to us it’s from our area and represents who we are," said co-owner and executive chef Chad Jones.
When it comes time for lunch, the burgers are where it's at.
And while at the Merc, make sure you get the coffee, which is brewed right there.
