VINTON, Va. (WDBJ7) They haven't even been open for a year, but FarmBurguesa in Vinton has become known for unique, and incredible, takes on the burger.
The key behind their success: keep as much local as possible. From the beef and spices, to their homemade sauces and pesto, a lot of what you'll find here is local.
“We love to support local businesses. It’s very important to buy from people in Virginia,” said co-owner Jimmy Delgado.
At FarmBurguesa, you'll find a lot of different variety, from the standard cheeseburger to the far from it.
One of the most popular on the menu is one the owners are extremely proud of. The Columbiana represents their family's home country of Columbia.
"One of the most delicious and unique burgers I’ve ever had in my life,” said WDBJ7's Josh Birch.
The Columbiana features their ground beef they get from a farm in Marion, Virginia. They top it with bacon, onions, green tomatoes, homemade pink sauce, and then last be not least: pineapple sauce.
"Having the pineapple and having the bacon on the same burger is an interesting taste when you go to bite into it, but it’s flavorful and its something we’ve become really proud of,” said co-owner Kat Pascal.
Another big hit here is an Italian take on the burger called Caprese. You take the local beef and top it with fresh mozzarella, Roma tomatoes, fresh basil, olive oil, a homemade basil pesto, and then finish it with a balsamic vinegar glaze.
"It’s the delicious juiciness of the meat," said regular Norma Crawford. "The flavors of course that they incorporate are unique.”
