ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) If you're searching for a healthy restaurant serving up organic and wholesome food, look no further than Garden Song Eco Cafe in Roanoke.

Specializing in vegetarian cuisine, Garden Song has something for everyone. While you won't find meat products here, you will find a ton of flavor. Everything here is good -- from their coffee and smoothies to panninis and crepes.
"I’m not a vegetarian. I’m not a vegan. I come here because the food is really good, the company is really good and I get to meet some cool people,” said Jay Finch.
Owner Maya Ittah started out making crepes at the Floyd and Blacksburg farmers markets. That eventually grew into a full-scale cafe operating in Roanoke.
“I graduated with my masters in nutrition and I thought, well I could do something like a café," Ittah said. "I could provide really healthy nutritious foods to the community.”
And so that is exactly what she is doing. A must try here are the crepes, which you can get sweet or savory. A personal favorite is the breakfast crepe, which features an egg, avocado, flax seed, Amish cheese, tomato, organic greens and a house-made tahini sauce.
"A lot of times people think of crepes and they think sweet but this is so savory," said WDBJ7's Josh Birch. "It’s healthy. It’s homemade. You can taste the different ingredients they’re putting in it.”
Or try out one of their panninis like the Zen Garden, which features their homemade pesto sauce.
"We take pride in our ingredients and knowing each and every single ingredient that goes into our sauces, whether its our house-made tahini dressing or pesto,” said kitchen manager Thomas Leonard.
Garden Song Eco Cafe is located at 808 5th Street SW in Roanoke. Their phone number is (540) 685-2718.
