Virginia makes top 10 in Miss America competition
The new Miss America was crowned yesterday night in Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall.
Cecili Weber, who was crowned Miss Virginia was among the top ten contestants, but got cut just before the Q and A segment.
Before competing in the Miss America competition, Weber stopped by WDBJ7 to talk about her ties to the area from graduating from Hollins University in 2017 with a degree in communications.
Crowned after the evening was 23-year-old Cara Mund who represented North Dakota.
Mund bested a field of 51 competitors from each state and the District of Columbia during the weeklong of events.
The Bismarck, North Dakota, resident emerged victorious through a series of swimsuit and talent contests, onstage speeches and two rounds of interviews by judges.
