Three dead in Danville following double-murder and suicide, police say

Three people are dead in Danville following a double-murder and suicide, police say.

Around 2:15 a.m., Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of an unresponsive male in a car in the median of Route 29 near the intersection of Realty Road in Pittyslvania County. When arriving, deputies found the man suffering from a gunshot wound that appeared to be self-inflicted. There were no other people in or around the vehicle.

The man who died has been identified as Dylan Milam, 25, of Danville.

The Danville Police Department was contacted to check the vehicle registration address in the 900 block of Luna Lake Road in Danville. When officers arrived to the home, they discovered it to be on fire. The Danville Fire Department and rescue personnel were called to the scene.

While putting out the fire, fire crews discovered two dead people in the home. Both people had injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.

The victims have been identified as Linda Milam, 53, and Mark Duncan, 57, of Danville. They were residents of the home where the fire happened.

The incident on Luna Lake Road is being investigated as a homicide.

All three bodies were transported to the Roanoke Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Danville Police Department and the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office will work together to investigate.

A suspect isn’t being sought in the investigation.

At approximately 2:13 am Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office Deputies responded to a report of an unresponsive male in a motor vehicle in the median of Route 29 near the intersection of Realty Rd. in Pittsylvania County. Upon arrival Deputies discovered an unresponsive male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound that at this time appears to be self-inflicted. There were no other occupants in or around the vehicle.

The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Dylan Roy Milam of Danville.

The Danville Police Department was contacted to check the vehicle registration address in the 900 block of Luna Lake Rd.

Once on the scene officers discovered the home on fire. The Danville Fire Department and rescue personnel were called to the scene.

In the process of extinguishing the fire, members of the Danville Fire Department discovered two deceased individuals inside of the residence. Both individuals had injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.

The victims have been identified as 53-year-old Linda Lawson Milam and 57-year-old Mark Steven Duncan, both residents of the Luna Lake Rd. address.

The incident on Luna Lake Rd. is being investigated as a homicide.

All three bodies have been transported to the Roanoke Medical Examiner's Office for further investigation.

 

The Danville Police Department will be working with the Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office during this investigation. A suspect is not currently being sought in this investigation.
