UPDATE: Suspect taken into custody after 3 people shot in Bedford County

BEDFORD, Va. (WDBJ7) -- UPDATE: 9:15 a.m.
A 56-year-old man has been charged after an early morning shooting in Bedford County that sent three people to the hospital.

Mark Edwin Turner, 56 was charged with malicious wounding, the use of a firearm in commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to the Bedford County Sheriff's Office.

2 a.m.
As of 1:50 a.m. Tuesday, the suspect was taken into custody, according to the Bedford County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies are still investigating the incident at this time.
1:45 a.m.

According to the Bedford County Sheriff's Office, deputies received a call reporting gun shots from Shepherd Lane at around 11:30 p.m. Monday.

When deputies arrived to the scene, they found three people with non-life-threatening injuries outside of a home. All three people were taken to the hospital, deputies said.

A suspect has barricaded himself inside the home, according to the sheriff's office. Deputies are working to negotiate the suspect out of the home early Tuesday morning.


Deputies are investigating after three people were shot Monday night in Bedford County.

The Bedford County Sheriff's Office and Virginia State Police are responding to the 100-block of Shepherd Lane.
