Seven accused of breaking into Franklin County home

ROCKY MOUNT, Va. (WDBJ7) -- Seven people have been charged with grand larceny after two September break-ins near Smith Mountain Lake.

In a statement, the Franklin County Sheriff's Office said it had charged the following people:

Zachariah N. Markham, 25, of Glade Hill, charged with grand larceny, breaking and entering and destruction of property.

Brittany D. Nichols, 31. of Rocky Mount, charged with grand larceny and breaking and entering.

Brett Halsey, 30, of Roanoke. charged with grand larceny and burglary.

Amanda Maggio, 29, of Roanoke, charged with grand larceny and burglary.

Christopher Palmero, 31, of Roanoke, charged with grand larceny and burglary.

Joseph Stewart, 30, of Roanoke, charged with grand larceny and burglary.

Keith Arrington, 50, whose hometown is unknown, charged with grand larceny and burglary.

Franklin County deputies investigated two separate break-ins on Sept. 15 and 17 at an unoccupied house on Lakemount Drive in Moneta that was damaged by a recent fire, the release stated.

Deputies believe Markham and Nichols were involved in the initial burglary.

On Oct. 30, deputies were called back to the home. After that call, deputies arrested Palmero, Maggio, Stewart and Halsey, the release stated.

Authorities arrested Arrington after searching properties in Roanoke and Vinton, the release added.
