7@Four: Try it Tuesday

Lisa Hoyt with the Green Ridge Recreation Center joined our show to show us how to make bath bombs as well as some cool decorations that you can use for the holidays!

Kool Aid Bath Bombs for Kids (makes 2 small bombs)
1 small packet Kool Aid (Lemon or Strawberry work best)
1 teaspoon Cornstarch
4 teaspoons Baking Soda
1/2 teaspoon plain mineral oil, OR almond oil OR olive oil
Add water and stir, 1/2 teaspoon at a time until the mixture is crumbly. It might fizz for a second, but keep mixing with a spoon. Use as little water as possible to get a "crumbly" mix.

Mix until crumbly then pack VERY TIGHTLY into ice cube molds. Remove immediately and let air dry for 1 day. (The Kool Aid provides citric acid which is necessary for the fizz, as well as color and fragrance).

Grown Up Bath Bombs (Recipe can be adjusted to make desired amount which depends on mold size)
2 Cups Baking Soda
1 Cup Citric Acid (food grade, granulated - available on Amazon)
2 teaspoons oil (mineral, olive, baby, coconut)
20-30 drops desired skin safe essential oils
Thoroughly mix oil with dry ingredients.

In a small bowl, mix 2 teaspoons of water with skin safe food coloring to achieve desired color. Slowly add water to the dry bowl a little at a time YOU WILL NOT USE ALL OF THE WATER! Mix and stir, with a spoon and/or fingers to get crumbly, moist consistency. Pack one half of mold to overflowing, repeat with second half, very rapidly, push halves together to pack contents. Pop out bath bomb from mold and set aside to dry. Store in sealed plastic to keep out moisture once bombs are thoroughly dry.
