UPDATE: 5:09 P.M.

Six people were taken to a Lynchburg hospital, following an accident on Route 460 in Campbell County Monday afternoon.

All six of the injured were riding in a van owned by Fox Hill Road Baptist Church out of Newport News, Virginia according to Virginia State Police.

Officers say a flat-bed truck operated by Jonathan Elliott of Lynchburg hit the church van and caused it to cross from the eastbound lanes into the westbound lanes of Route 460, where it hit a tractor-trailer owned by Advanced Auto Parts. The accident happened at the intersection of Route 460 and Pleasant Valley Road, less than a mile from the Lynchburg City Limits.

The driver of the church van, Travis Wash, and five children were taken to a hospital with minor to serious injures. Everyone is expected to survive, according to police.

Troopers are still investigating to determine whether anyone will be charged as a result of the accident.
