Additional details regarding the boil warning issued for Town of Floyd

FLOYD COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ7)-- Floyd county officials say:

-Only boiled water should be used for drinking (this includes water used to make beverages such as coffee, tea, Kool-Aid, juice drinks, etc.), making ice, brushing teeth, and food preparation.

-Boiling is not necessary for washing clothes, bathing, or washing dishes, or for other uses whereby water is not ingested.

-Avoid allowing children or infants to drink bath water. This also extends to allowing it to get into their mouths at all.

-In order to wash dishes, a capful of liquid laundry bleach should be added to a sink full of dishwater and rinse water.


FLOYD Co., Va. (WDBJ7) -- A boil warning has been issued for the Town of Floyd after a water main break.

To kill bacteria and other organisms, the town of Floyd is advised not to drink tap water without boiling it first.

A recording by the Town of Floyd states that the Town of Floyd is without water service due to a water main break.
