ALLEGHANY COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ7) Alleghany County has a new crisis intervention center in Low Moor.

They celebrated Wednesday after opening the new operation, which is intended to provide help for people having behavioral health emergencies.

"What we're looking at and what we're aiming to do is to take individuals that have behavioral health issues out of the emergency room environment and bring them into a therapeutic environment, where they're comfortable and can be evaluated," explained Ingrid Barber, Executive Director of the Alleghany Highland Community Services Board.

Three sheriff's deputies have received special training to be on duty with the therapists at the new location at all times.
