ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ7) - No paramedics were hurt when a Lexington ambulance was sideswiped by a tractor trailer Thursday evening.

It happened on northbound I-81 in Rockbridge County.

The big rig sideswiped the ambulance, putting both in a ravine off I-81. The ambulance crew was responding to another wreck, which it turns out had no injuries.

The EMTs in the ambulance got out on their own, according to Lexington Fire Chief Ty Dickerson. They and two people in the truck were sent to Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital as a precaution, but no serious injuries were reported.

The crash is under investigation.
