ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7)- Angels of Assisi announced on Monday its largest fund-raising effort in its 18-year history. The $3 million capital campaign 'Imagine' will help construct a new Pet Hospital and Adoption Center to replace the current facility.

The new center will be 16,000 square feet and will replace the outdated 4,000 square foot Community Pet Clinic and Adoption Center.

The new center will be located on the corner of Franklin Road and Elm Avenue, and it will include surgical and diagnostic suites, a pharmacy, adoption center and more.

According to Angels of Assisi, these new state-of-the-art additions will allow them to provide additional programs and services to better serve the community. Some new services include endoscopy, acupuncture and orthopedic surgery.

“For 18 years, Angels of Assisi has focused on delivering quality care for animals in need. We have evolved from a
spay/neuter mobile clinic to a Community Pet Clinic and Adoption Center that serves over 50,000 animals each year.
While we have expanded our services and programs to better serve the people and pets in the community, our space,
unfortunately, has remained the same and we found ourselves at a tipping point,” said Lisa O’Neill, Executive Director at
Angels of Assisi. “The new facility will be able to better serve the community to ensure pet owners have access to
affordable veterinary care for their beloved pets while also finding homes for animals through the Adoption Center.”

The new facility will be central to Roanoke; however, the Angels of Assisi pet transport vehicle will continue to travel through other areas to provide needed services.
