Roanoke County man arrested after early-morning dispute

Roanoke County police responded to a domestic situation in the 2500 block of Rutrough Road Saturday around 12:45 a.m.

Officers came into contact with a female who had left her home and was walking down the road.

Police then came into contact with a man, who they believed was armed inside the house.

The man did not respond to officers. Roanoke County Police SWAT was then called, but the man was still not responding. Tear gas was then used inside the house.

At 6:47 a.m., the man was taken into custody with no injuries reported.

Joshua Roberts, 29, is charged with Domestic Assault and Battery, Felony abduction and Preventing Use of phone for 9-1-1. He is also wanted in Roanoke City with a failure to appear in court.

Officials are on scene of a standoff at the Pine Tree Mobile Park in Roanoke County.

The standoff started Saturday around 2 a.m.

Officials say no shots have been fired.
