AMHERST COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ7) -- Authorities are warning residents of an unidentified caller posing as an Amherst County Deputy.

The Amherst County Sheriff's office said the unknown caller poses as Deputy Clark and attempts to convince residents that they must pay him to have their bench warrant removed from their record.

The Sheriff's office says they do not have a Deputy Clark.

The Sheriff's office advises the public to not give the caller any personal information or money. If anyone were to receive a call from this individual, is asked to notify the incident to the Sheriff's office as soon as possible.

Deputies are investigating the scam.
