He has local ties, and he keeps getting better and better.

On Tuesday, Stephen Curry became the first player in history to be unanimously chosen as the NBA's Most Valuable Player.

He also won MVP last year while leading the Golden State Warriors to the NBA title.

Curry's mother Sonya grew up in Radford and his grandma still lives there.

His dad played college basketball at Virginia Tech. on Wednesday we talked to his uncle, who's the football coach at Averett University.

Cleive Adams says despite the accolades, his nephew remains humble.

“Honestly, it's just his upbringing. It's my sister Sonya, Dell, our family as a whole. He's always been humble. He's always been a God-fearing person. I think the foundation of that pretty much makes him the person that he is,” said Adams, who was on a recruiting trip to Charlotte on Wednesday.

On Wednesday night, Curry's Warriors play the Portland Trail Blazers. If Golden State wins they advance to the Western Conference finals.
