Averett University student receives national fellowship
An Averett University student has been selected for a prestigious national honor.
Sophomore, Jordan Jones, has been named as a Newman Civic Fellow.
She is one of just 268 college students to receive the recognition.
It is a year long fellowship that allows students all across the country to work together towards social change.
Jones is the first student from Averett to receive it.
"It's really about the betterment of our school because Averett is about the place you make it. I mean, it's our second home, so if you can improve it in any way then you know you need to take the opportunity to do so," says Jones.
Jones will begin her term as a fellow in the fall.
She will travel to Boston this November and connect with other fellows throughout the year.
