Bedford County School hosts 4th annual Special Olympics

BEDFORD, Va. (WDBJ7) In Bedford, students got to go for the gold.

The fourth annual Special Olympics was held at Liberty High School. Sixty-nine middle and high school students from Amherst and Bedford got to show off their skills. They competed in track and field events including the 100 meter run and long jump.

"And every year its gotten bigger and bigger and it's just something that we as a community look forward to every year. Our community support is amazing," Liberty High School Adaptive P.E. teacher Alicia Schneider said.

Liberty High School also received an award from the State Special Olympics for being an inclusive school of the year.
