We now know the name of a woman found dead in Bedford County over the weekend.

Medical examiners have identified the woman as Dana C. Ray, 47, according to a statement from the sheriff's office.

She was found unresponsive in a grassy area next to the Graves Mill Shopping Center Saturday morning. The area is directly behind a McDonald's restaurant that sits along Route 221.

Medical examiners are still trying to figure out how she died, but deputies do not suspect foul play.

The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a woman was found dead near a McDonald’s in the 17-thousand block of Forest Road around 5 a.m. Saturday.

Deputies responded to the area, where they found a white female lying in a grassy area. They found a vehicle they believe belongs to her nearby.

Investigators don’t believe foul play is involved. They’re working on getting in touch with next of kin.

The woman’s body was taken to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Roanoke. They’ll determine cause of death, and identify the woman.
