RADFORD, Va. (WDBJ7) A familiar building in Radford is now home to behavioral health services for people in Southwest Virginia.

New River Valley Community Services is now in the former Wades Supermarket location on West Main Street.

The new center gives more room for health professionals to offer programs for children and adults dealing with mental illness, developmental disabilities, or substance abuse.

"There's convenience for the consumer that's receiving services convenience also for the partner agencies that we work with who send folks to us through referrals and then a better opportunity for our staff," said Mike Wade, the NRVCS Community Relations Specialist.

This is the first time this agency has had a location in Radford in nearly 15 years.

The center now is now considering expanding programs with the additional space.

A grand opening and open house is scheduled for Thursday, May 10 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
