UPDATE: Missing two-year-old boy's body pulled from Smith Mountain Lake

According to Major Rick Gardner with the Bedford County Sheriff's Office, two-year-old August Farley was found dead Thursday afternoon.

The dive team pulled Farley's body from the dock near the home they were staying in at Smith Mountain Lake around 12:15 p.m.

Gardner says an autopsy will be done to determine the cause of death.

The family is asking for privacy during this emotional time.

The Red Cross is assisting the family with any needs they have.

We are told at least 150 people were involved in the search.

This is an emotional ending for not only the family but also for the search crews involved. Many officials had tears in their eyes as they were giving an update.


Deputies have released the name of the missing two-year-old boy.

August Farley has been missing since early Thursday morning.

The family said they were in town for a family reunion from Fort Worth, Texas.

They were supposed to go home today before they realize the boy was missing.

They call him “danger boy”, because he is very adventurous

The family believes he must be out there somewhere climbing a tree or hanging out entertaining somebody.

The Bedford County Sheriff's Office is searching for a missing two-year-old boy, who disappeared from a home on Rosewood Lane in Huddleston Thursday morning.

The child was reported missing around 8:30 Thursday morning. The boy was last seen around 6 a.m. Thursday, according to a statement from the sheriff's office.

Deputies say the missing child has long brown hair, blue eyes and is wearing dinosaur pajama pants and a yellow shirt.

The child's family is from Texas. Deputies say they are renting a house at Smith Mountain Lake.
