ROANOKE CO., Va. (WDBJ7) A construction site on Bent Mountain continues to be a focal point in the fight over the Mountain Valley Pipeline.
Crews have been working on both sides of Route 221 near the point where the pipeline passes underneath the highway.
Residents of the area say the work raises fresh concerns, about the impact of the project on groundwater, and their supply of drinking water.
"And again the trench has been opened here," Roberta Bondurant told WDBJ7. " It's like reopening sutures. The sanctity of this pipe is in question."
A spokesperson for the company said work in the area is part of the stabilization plan authorized by federal regulators.
