BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ7)— The Town of Blacksburg has some new artwork to celebrate.

On Wednesday, new public art was unveiled at the farmer’s market. It’s the first of what could be a series of art projects on utility boxes throughout the downtown.

Nikki Pynn, the artist, said she has been working on the project since the summer months to depict the market and everyone you might meet when you visit.

“There’s a lot of people here just joyously running around and that’s where the idea of having dancing people and throwing vegetables,” Pynn said. “I really seriously wanted it to meld in and not be a separate entity. I like that people have said, ‘oh I didn’t even know that it was here’ because that means it just melted right in.”

Pynn said there are several hidden surprises throughout the installation for you to look for next time you visit the market.
