BOTETOURT Co., Va. (WDBJ7) In Botetourt County, they are just beginning a two-day summit to improve broadband access.

Registration opened Tuesday afternoon for the event at the Greenfield Center. A member of the advisory commission says the majority of people in Botetourt don't have fast, affordable internet. This summit will bring together different groups invested in rural broadband.

Arleen Boyd, Botetourt County Broadband Advisory Commission, said, “Rural broadband is hard. It's a hard issue financially, technically, politically financially and we're bringing in the right people to get on the right path.”

Their goal is to find actionable ideas that make affordable broadband a reality. They say all of the sessions will eventually be uploaded to YouTube.
