Brewery coming to downtown Salem
The Southwest Virginia brewery craze continues as Downtown Salem welcomes a new one.
The Olde Salem Brewing Company will go in on Main Street in the old Tarpley's and Mac's Appliance store. The 7,700 square foot building is smack dab in the middle of Downtown Salem and primed to be a popular spot.
It's still open, although it's been on the market for a while. Once it empties out, crews want to begin construction.
Sean Turk and three other investors are behind Olde Salem Brewing Co. Joining in on the craft beer craze, they plan to brew beer at the location and have a tasting room here too.
They'd like to follow in the successes of neighboring Parkway Brewery on the other side of town, which has continued to grow. The city has seen lots of changes in the last year, with more on the table, and a downtown brewery is something they're very interested in.
