Businesses volunteer for United Way of the New River Valley's annual "Day of Caring"

RADFORD, Va. (WDBJ) Wednesday was the United Way of the New River Valley's annual "Day of Caring."

Thirty-five volunteers from businesses around the New River Valley, spent the morning giving back to the community.

At the Goodwill Discovery Center in Radford, Community Health Center employees taught adults with disabilities how to cook spaghetti.

"Being thankful for the things that I have and spreading just a little bit more joy around," one of the volunteers, Rebecca LaBlanc, said. "You know, everybody deserves love so I just want to help people feel good."

They also spent the day doing puzzles and arts and crafts. Other volunteer projects included preparing meals, organizing donations, landscaping and mulching.
