Camp Bethel in Botetourt County celebrates 90 years
Hundreds, even thousands of people, might have called a special place home during a summer or two while growing up.
That place is Camp Bethel which is celebrating its 90th anniversary this month!
According to the camp's director, Barry LeNoir, Camp Bethel was dedicated in July of 1927.
It was originally used by the Church of the Brethren and became a year-round camp in the seventies.
For the next 90 years, LeNoir said he hopes the camp continues to create a special place for kids of all backgrounds.
"We just believe that as we as Americans and we as world citizens in our little place here in Bethel Camp in Botetourt, Virginia that we can have an impact one life at a time or 1500 lives at a time doing summer camp," he said.
In the last 15 years, LeNoir said summer visitation has gone up by 200 percent!
People of all faiths are welcome to attend.
