ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) People heading out to the first Hokies’ home game of the season at Lane Stadium will now have access to healthy meals.
Carilion Clinic released its “Hokie Fit” menus for basketball games at Cassell Coliseum two years ago, with great success. They decided to expand to Lane Stadium for football games, and also at the Berglund Center.
The healthier options include wraps, turkey sandwiches and juices as an alternative to typical concession food.
The Berglund Center will also be offering these Carilion healthy meals for kids, starting in early October. A dollar from every meal sold will benefit the Carilion Clinic Foundation, and go back to Carilion Children’s.
Officials from Carilion and Berglund say not only is it a healthier option, but will also be affordable. Parents can get their kids these meals for around $5 a piece.
In the future, Carilion plans on working with partners to further expand eating options at more venues.
