Centerfest street festival brings more than 6,000 to downtown Bedford

BEDFORD, Va. (WDBJ7) Thousands made their way to downtown Bedford Saturday for one of Virginia's largest outdoor street festivals.

Centerfest is an annual tradition that features everything from rides to arts and crafts.

The event is organized by the Central Virginia Business Coalition. This year's festival featured more than 120 vendors.

Organizers say Centerfest is a way to showcase Bedford businesses to both locals and people from outside the community.

"People know Bedford is here, but they don't always come and venture into downtown," said Heather Alto, executive director of the Central Virginia Business Coalition. "This is a great way to get people here, into downtown, to see what the businesses have to offer."

The Central Virginia Business Coalition estimates more than 6,000 people showed up for Saturday's festivities.
