A man who has led one of our region's largest healthcare organizations for more than five years is stepping down from his position.

E.W. Tibbs submitted his resignation to the Centra Board of Directors on Thursday, September 27, according to a statement from Centra spokesperson Diane Ludwig.

Tibbs, a native of Bedford, took over as Centra's chief executive officer and president in April, 2013.

Centra's board of directors will work with an outside recruitment firm to find Centra’s new CEO, Ludwig's statement read. During the transition, Centra’s Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Office Michael Elliott will serve as interim CEO.
