BEDFORD, Va. (WDBJ7) People who have reached the the end of their lives have a new place to receive care in Bedford.
Centra Health held a ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday to reopen the Bedford Hospice House. Another organization ran the facility at one time, but it had to close due to lack of funding.
Centra has invested thousands of dollars to bring the house back to life. It features four beds and is set up give patients a comfortable, home-like place to receive care.
"Instead of being institutional, it's a place where people can feel comfortable, relax together, and still know that their loved one is getting wonderful care," said Linda Beahm, a hospice physician at the Bedford Hospice House.
The Bedford Hospice House is located on Turning Point Road, just south of Bedford off Falling Creek Road.
