LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) -- Centra Health is calling in a third party to investigate claims made against its former CEO.
The health care provider is responding to a lawsuit that was filed Monday. The suit accuses former CEO E.W. Tibbs of inappropriate behavior in 2017.
Centra emailed all of its employees Tuesday, saying it began an internal review to determine whether the allegations have any merit.
Tibbs resigned in October 2018 and is now CEO of a health system in Michigan.
“We are not able to comment directly on the lawsuit at this time, except to say that these are very serious allegations that require an appropriate level of due diligence,” Diane Ludwig, a spokesperson, said in a statement released Tuesday. “Centra operates under a strict code of conduct and we expect all members of our team to exemplify those high standards.”
The complaint filed in Lynchburg Circuit Court is attached to this article.
These are the very early stages of the lawsuit and Centra now has an opportunity to respond.
