Charges pending for two people following Lynchburg fire
The Lynchburg Fire Department is investigating a Monday night fire, and has two people in custody.
Crews responded to the fire in the 2100 block of Carrington Road.
When fire personnel responded just before 10 p.m., they found smoke showing from the building. The fire was brought under control in a little over ten minutes; however, fire crews remained on the scene for an hour and a half to extinguish hot spots and ensure the fire had not spread.
The fire was contained to the one building. While it is not a total loss, the owners will not be able to return immediately, according to fire crews. They are being assisted by the department's Restoration Services and the American Red Cross. No one was hurt.
It was determined the fire started in the basement of the building. The Fire Marshal's Office has two people in custody and charges are pending. The fire department says it was an isolated incident and there is no further threat to the community.
The investigation is ongoing.
