CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) Snow cleanup in Montgomery County is going to be a little more colorful this year.

Students at Christiansburg High School were asked to paint the blade of a VDOT snow plow.

They chose a design with their mascot, the Blue Devil, as well as mascots for all other Christiansburg schools.

The students were thrilled to be asked to do this.

Christiansburg High School Danielle Fleenor has been working on this project since the start.

She said, "I think it's really cool that we get to work on something so big and that it's going to be around not just our town but around Montgomery County and it'll be showing off all our work."

Art teacher Carrie Lyons added, "Art people usually kind of stay back in the shadows and say just kind of look at what we have, so it's fun that we'll have our design out there for a lot of people to see."

The blade will be on a truck in Christiansburg's parade on December 9 before hitting the streets when the first snow falls.
