CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (WDBJ) A Christiansburg restaurant held a fundraiser Saturday for a family whose daughter was killed in a car accident last month.
"C-H-S. Ashlyn," cheerleaders from Christiansburg High School chanted.
Friends, and members of the community came to Macado's to show their support. There was face painting, a dunk tank, and a bake sale. Macado's general manager says even the rain couldn't keep this tight knit community from coming together.
"When something happens to one of us, it happens to all of us," Jamie Westmoreland, the general manager of Macado's, said. "And I mean we're going to come together and we're going to rally behind the Poole family and show 'em that we love them and that we haven't forgot Ashlyn."
All the money from the fundraiser will go to the Poole family, including 10-percent of Macado's sales. Ashlyn Poole was 16 years old when she died.
