ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ7) -- Dinah Clark has been named executive director of the Rockbridge Area Department of Social Services.

Clark confirmed on Friday that she will officially start June 1.

She has served as the acting director since April 1, and has been with the department since 2010.

The agency has faced scrutiny over the past few years, with several investigations and a $17 million lawsuit in 2018 over a claim that it failed to protect a three-month-old infant before her death in 2016.

In a conversation with WDBJ7, Clark said she wants to move the department forward.

She also said she is looking forward to continuing to work with the team.
