The old Blair Middle school building was once home to Pittsylania County's African-American high school during segregation.
The building served as a community center after Blairs Middle closed in 2004. Once the community center shutdown in 2016, the building future has been unknown.
Tuesday night, the board of supervisors unanimously voted to change the zoning code for the building. This makes it possible for the Landmark Group to submit their plans to put 55 units in the building for low income families.
The Landmark Group, based out of Winston-Salem, has worked on a number of properties in Martinsville, Danville, and South Boston.
