DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) The Danville courthouse unveiled security upgrades Monday.
And it means you need to leave your cell phone in the car.
The new renovations include glass panels in the front doors, a glass entry way and an X-ray machine.
Sheriff Mike Mondul says the upgrades are a precautionary measure to keep those inside the court house safe.
"It's good business from a security stand point and I realize it's an inconvenience for the public but if you want to have a safe environment you have to have some inconveniences," Danville Sheriff Mike Mondul said.
Many other courts have already banned cell phones.
Sheriff Mondul says a security renovation like this hasn't been done since the court house was built.
