Crash in Scott County results in one dead, two others receiving treatment

SCOTT COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ7)-- According to Virginia State Police:

"Virginia State Police Trooper A.L. McCoy is investigating a two-vehicle crash in Scott County. The crash occurred June 13, 2019 at 2:25 p.m. on Route 23 at the 13 mile marker.

A 2014 Nissan Rogue was pulling out from a private drive and across the northbound lanes of Route 23 when it pulled into the path of a northbound 2018 Chevrolet Silverado. The Chevrolet swerved to try and miss the Nissan, but was unable to avoid striking it in the side. The impact sent both vehicles across the southbound lanes, off the road and against the guardrail.

The driver of the Nissan, Milton G. Clark, 81, of Gate City, Va., died at the scene. His adult female passenger is being treated at Holston Valley Medical Center for life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Daniel C. Stacy, 31, of Appalachia, Va., and his adult female passenger refused treatment at the scene for minor injuries received in the crash.

Both drivers and passengers were wearing their seat belts."
