The Virginia Department of Transportation is reporting multiple crashes causing delays throughout the region.

At one point., delays of up to eight miles northbound were reported because of a multi-vehicle crash in Augusta County, 3.7 miles north of exit 205, the junction with Route 605. That's between Lexington and Staunton. This backup has been cleared.

Delays of up to two miles were reported from a crash on northbound 81 at mile marker 140 in Roanoke County; that crash has since been cleared.

But Friday evening, crashes were also being worked on 81 elsewhere in Roanoke County, plus in Augusta, Rockbridge and Wythe and surrounding counties. Crashes were reported in both directions of 81.
