Crews extinguish early morning fire at Ringgold landfill

Crews have extinguished an early morning Ringgold landfill fire.

The fire started in an area susceptible to fires due to smoking material usually being discarded in the area.

Officials said volunteer fire departments from Ringgold, Blairs and Kentuck responded to a Thursday morning fire at First Piedmont Landfill around 5:30 a.m.

According to officials, the landfill fire has since been extinguished with no chance of reignition.
