Cryotherapy service open in Roanoke

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) Cryotherapy is becoming a trendy way to treat a host of medical issues. A new boutique is offering the service in Roanoke.

The husband and wife duo who own and operate Valley Cryotherapy say it's an alternative for pain medicine.

It requires getting into a tank that can be up to negative 220 degrees. It can help with chronic pain, arthritis, even illnesses like Lyme Disease.

"I've been an ER nurse for 20 years so I see a lot of people with chronic pain issues that come in, and there's not really that much alternative options for them to treat their pain. And Roanoke is such an active area, athletic area, so we thought this would be a good spot for this type of business,” said Leslie Mason, co-owner of Valley Cryotherapy.

Cryotherapy is not recommended for people with a history of blood clots, those who had recent surgeries, or patients with blood pressure issues.
