DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) -- The Danville Fire Department responded to a two-story residential fire shortly after 3 p.m. on Sunday.
According to Danville Fire Department Chief Dean Fowler, units arrived at Justin Ln. to find heavy fire and smoke coming from the front of the structure.
Fowler says all occupants were able to get out of the structure without injury. However, several animals died as a result of the fire.
The fire, which received heavy fire damage to the front half of the structure, and heavy smoke and heat damage to the remaining half was controlled in approximately 15 minutes.
There is no official word on what caused the fire at this time.
