DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) Two families in Danville now have a new home.
Over the weekend, Danville-Pittsylvania County Habitat for Humanity dedicated two homes on Hughes Street.
Celebrating 25 years of service in the area, leaders say this is the first time they dedicated two in one day.
Habitat officials say each home is a huge step for cleaning up and improving run down neighborhoods.
"It's a process, but every single home that we put into this neighborhood whether it's a rehab or a new build is part of that process of rehabbing the neighborhood as well," Habitat for Humanity Program Services Coordinator Karen Sgrinia said.
This will be the first home for both families. They close on the houses Tuesday.
In about six weeks, Habitat will start on the next project, building their first multi-story house on Edwards Street.
